Professor Johan van Niekerk is a recognised expert in the areas of cybersecurity and technology enhanced learning. He holds a PhD in Information Technology and has Master’s degrees in both Information Technology and Education. He is a Professional Member of the Institute for Information Technology Professionals of South Africa (with full IP3 accreditation) and is an established researcher who has been awarded a C2 rating from the South African National Research Foundation. He has authored numerous articles in the fields of cybersecurity and education. He served on the Global Advisory Board for the Joint Task Force for Cybersecurity Education (JTF[1]) – which was sponsored by the ACM, IEEE-CS, AIS SIGSEC, and IFIP; contributed to the ACM Computing Curricula in the field of Information Security and Assurance; served as official South African representative on IFIP Technical Committee 3; and served on numerous expert panels for the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Prof VanNiekerk has broad ranging research interests in the area of Cyber security.
