Choosing Your Trimester
When applying to Deakin University, you must decide which trimester start works best for you. The examples below assume the standard Noroff intake beginning in August. If you are an online student with a different schedule, you should consider which trimester fits your timeline.
Trimester 2 (starts in July)
Advantages:
Quick transition for those who wish to continue their studies immediately after graduation.
Challenges:
If you finish your Higher Vocational College degree at Noroff in the spring semester, it may be difficult to receive your diploma and secure your visa in time.
On-campus housing can be harder to find since Deakin’s main intake is in Trimester 1.
Trimester 1 (starts in March)
Advantages:
More time to apply, receive your diploma, and complete the visa process.
Greater availability of student housing, as this is Deakin’s main intake.
Opportunity to work or save money before starting your studies.
Challenges:
A longer gap between completing your Noroff program and starting at Deakin.
Take time to consider which trimester gives you enough flexibility to plan and meet all requirements before your studies begin. If you have questions, please contact us at
How to Apply
Noroff will submit your application to Deakin on your behalf. To start the process, email
Required documents
- Application form
- High school diploma (English version—contact your high school if you don’t already have this)
- Updated CV
- Copy of your passport
- Noroff diploma (if you have already graduated)
Processing Time
Application processing may take up to six weeks, so apply well in advance.
When Deakin emails you the offer letter, you must accept it by completing and returning the attached acceptance form.
If your offer includes any conditions, such as providing your Noroff diploma or completing an English language test, you must meet these requirements before you can receive your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
Deakin follows a trimester system, with the academic year divided into three trimesters of roughly four months each. Two trimesters equal a full academic year. As a Noroff student, you may apply for Trimester 1 or Trimester 2 admission.
Trimester dates and recommended deadlines:
Trimester 1: March – June
Recommended application period: early autumn, by December.
Final application deadline: 15 January
Trimester 2: July – October
Recommended application period: early spring, by April.
Final application deadline: 15 May

In most cases, you will first receive a conditional offer, which requires successful completion of your Noroff studies and fulfillment of any additional requirements before final admission.
Applications typically open in the fall, the year prior to the desired intake, provided that the application links for the upcoming academic year are available. To allow sufficient time for visa processing, we strongly recommend submitting your application well in advance, ideally no later than June 15 of the intake year.

Noroff Higher Vocational College
At Noroff you can begin to hone your digital expertise by higher vocational education that is aimed at the industries in which you wish to build your future. We educate first movers.
Noroff Higher Vocational College has campuses in Oslo and Bergen. The start of semester is in August, when you will already be hands-on.
The higher vocational education will present you with relevant challenges through classroom teaching, self-study, guest lectures and a close collaboration with and insight into industry and commerce and the market. Our reading lists reflect the digital need of tomorrow.
Consider a learning environment where you and your fellow students voluntarily and enthusiastically remain on campus after the end of a day of teaching. Because you want to be better. Even better. Because you want to learn more, to perfect your skills. We guarantee that being prepared will become second nature. Every day.
You have exciting and insightful years ahead of you. A higher vocational education at Noroff will be one of the elements that form the rest of your professional life. Our students acquaint themselves with many current and future employers at an early stage and every year the curriculum is updated to be congruent with corresponding industry standards.
It will probably feel like you are already in employment a number of times over the course of the academic year. All our professionally competent teachers and lecturers greet each new day with a passion to give you that feeling.
The majority of educational programs are also available as online studies with programmes starting up four times a year. All documentation and learning material is digitally available to all students.
The higher vocational education awards credits where 60 credits is equivalent to one year of education. All of our educational programs are accredited by the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (NOKUT) and have been approved for student loans and grants by the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (Statens Lånekasse for utdanning). The two-year educational program can be extended by a third study year abroad, leading to a bachelor’s degree.
The Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research recently announced the new degree titles for higher vocational programs. These are professional degree for one year programs (60 and 90 credits) and higher professional degree for two year programs (120 credits).
Together with the Swedish school Nackademin, Noroff is part of a larger Nordic Partnership.
