Why Study Cloud Foundations?

Technology is evolving rapidly, and the need for processing, performance, storage, and availability is increasing accordingly. As a result, many organizations choose to establish cloud-based environments, increasing the demand for qualified personnel. The target audience for this program is anyone interested in ICT and seeking practical education with excellent job prospects.

Throughout the program, you will be challenged with real, practical, and relevant tasks. You will learn essential elements such as collaboration, project work, creativity, research, and report writing. Additionally, you will gain knowledge of on-premises and cloud-based operations, as well as infrastructure and server service administration. During the program, you will also be encouraged to use AI as a learning tool.

The goal of the education is to make you self-reliant and independent, with excellent collaboration skills in an interdisciplinary environment. The key to success is an interest in the field, strong work ethic, and an ambitious attitude.

Programme information

The first semester of the program provides practical understanding of principles, methods, and techniques in the operation and administration of on-premises network infrastructure and server environments. You receive comprehensive training in the installation and operation of network devices, Microsoft-based and Linux-based servers, in addition to a holistic approach before a possible migration of environments and services to the cloud.

In the second semester, you delve deeper into the cloud-based environment, learning fundamental elements of various cloud services and security. The Cloud Foundations program is based on Microsoft Azure, and you will receive practical training in various Azure services.

AI becomes a crucial learning tool throughout the program, ensuring you always have a "personal teacher" to consult with, making you better equipped for the industry that is constantly evolving.

Each semester involves working on a comprehensive semester project with interim submissions. The semesters conclude with a final submission of the semester project you have worked on throughout.

Hardware and software

We recommend the following:

  • The machine MUST be able to handle virtualization
  • 1 TB SSD storage
  • 16 GB RAM
  • Core i5 or newer

We do not recommend MAC with M1 processor, as the machine does not handle certain software and virtualizations.

All necessary software is provided to students through Noroff – or by downloading for free from the Internet.

Noroff has ongoing admissions, and applications are processed in the order they are received. The earlier you apply, the earlier you can secure a study place.

To qualify for the program, you must have general study competence or vocational education with a professional certificate. It is also possible to apply based on recognized prior learning.

For international students, depending upon which country you have received your education from, the requirements will differ. Please use this website where you can find the specific requirements for your country at the bottom of the page.

All our study programs are approved for loans and grants from the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen). You can apply to the Loan Fund for basic support (loan and grant; NOK 137,907) and tuition fees (NOK 74,366).

As an adult student, you can receive loans and grants from the State Educational Loan Fund. This also applies if you work while studying.

As a main rule, you must be a Norwegian citizen to receive support from the Norwegian State Educational Fund. However, foreign citizens may also be entitled to financial support. Check here to see if you are eligible.
