How is AI used in Technical Design - Manufacturing?
We encourage students to use AI as a resource during your studies. As a student in our program, you will have access to Copilot as your official AI engine, helping you develop skills applicable to a variety of leading AI platforms. You will gain insight into how AI can be used in projects as well as awareness of potential risks of misuse, enabling you to become a responsible and informed user.
How is AI used in the workplace as a Mechanical Designer and PDM Coordinator?
AI is used to support design automation, simulation, optimisation and data management in engineering and manufacturing environments. However, strong skills in CAD, materials, standards and technical documentation remain essential to ensure quality, safety and compliance.
During your education, you will become familiar with the Autodesk family of products—software with broad adoption in the industry and a strong international presence. Their recently introduced AI tool, Autodesk Assistant, for example, is still quite new and developing, and while it is starting to be used in practice, it is not yet widely established across the industry. In most cases, solid fundamental skills and manual control are still essential.
