Professor Jeremy Hansen has served as an Associate Professor of Cybersecurity since April 2025, when he came to Noroff University College from Norwich University in the United States where he worked for 15 years and was an Associate Professor of Computer Science. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee in 2009 with a dissertation describing the structure of cryptographic hash algorithms. Before his academic career, he spent more than ten years in information technology (primarily in security) working for a range of employers, from small businesses through Fortune 500 companies.
Professor Hansen has been an active advocate for studies abroad, having led eight credit-bearing summer undergraduate courses in Berlin and the Basque Country. He also founded and served as head coach for the Norwich University Esports program, which has provided scholarships to hundreds of skilled collegiate players since 2018.
In 2018, Professor Hansen founded and was the chair of a public Internet Service Provider to provide high speed fiber optic Internet access for residents and businesses in Central Vermont. This organization, CVFiber, has gone on to serve more than 500 rural subscribers in places where the incumbent service providers would not or could not cover.
He has served on a variety of public boards, including several terms on Berlin, Vermont’s Selectboard, its volunteer fire department, and its economic development committee. He was also appointed in 2020 to a ten-year term on the State of Vermont’s Legislative Apportionment Board, the entity responsible for redrawing the state’s legislative maps following the 2020 United States Census.
