- In the course of the program, you go through the basics very carefully before you really start working with the technology that is highly sought after by employers.
Jørgen Engh (34) previously worked in IT, but had a different educational background. In the evenings, he would sit and do a bit of coding, which he eventually became very fond of. He then decided to pursue his interest in coding full time.
– After the pandemic, I decided to go 'all in' and started studying Front-end development 100%. What's exciting about front-end is that you can actually create something that people can both see and interact with..
Front-end Development is the technology education where visual design meets coding, web and UX design. The program is offered in Oslo, Bergen, Kristiansand and as online studies.
Sought After by Employers
The 34-year-old is studying at the campus in Kristiansand and reports a very positive experience of the program.

Jørgen has already landed a job as a Security Developer in Telenor's security department, Security Operation Center (SOC), before he has completed his education.
– I work in a department called SOC-Tools, where I will create tools that both other Telenor employees and Telenor customers use. I'll be working a lot on the front-end, but I'll also be allowed to work and develop on the back-end of the technology stack.
He found the job at Telenor on Finn.no, and after a few interviews and technical tests, he received a job offer. Jørgen has gained a small network in the industry through company presentations that either Noroff or the students themselves have organized, but in this case he didn't know anyone in the company beforehand.
He experiences that there is a good correlation between the industry and his studies at Noroff.
– You go through the basics very carefully before you really start working with the technology that is highly sought after by employers. Therefore, it's very important to complete the entire course of study and not drop out along the way.

Steep Learning Curve
The Noroff student says that a typical study day for him begins with him arriving at school at 9 am and attending classes until 11:30 am. Then he often sits and works on assignments until 13-14 o'clock.
– I have two small children in kindergarten, so in the afternoon I spend time with my family, before studying for an hour or two later in the evening.
My teacher, Eivind, is very good, he has a lot of knowledge and helps us when we need it.Jørgen Engh
– What's the best thing about studying on campus in Kristiansand?
– I like getting out of the house and see other fellow students. I came from the working world and got a bit fed up with working from home after the pandemic, so it was out of the question for me to only study online. Being part of an environment and meeting fellow students or colleagues is very important to me. It's also nice when there are social events during the day or in the evenings on campus.
Jørgen feels that he receives good follow-up from his teacher on the course, Eivind.
– Eivind is very skilled, he has a lot of knowledge and helps us when we need it. He is also our only subject teacher, so we can always relate to him.
When I ask Jørgen what advice he would give to other students, he tells me that learning to code is not always a walk in the park. It can seem very complicated and overwhelming, and it will be frustrating at times.
– It's a big field where no one knows everything, but it can seem like a lot of people do, and are in complete control. I think the most important quality you can have is persistence. The feeling of being overwhelmed will most likely be part of the package when learning development.
He adds:
– On the bright side, coding is also a lot of fun, and if it wasn't challenging and had a steep learning curve, it wouldn't be so sought after.
