Why Study Data Analyst?

As a data analyst, you can work for large international companies that deal with large amounts of data, or for small businesses that need to organise and model monthly sales figures. You could find opportunities in finance, medicine, marketing and social media, among others.

Throughout the programme you will learn to collect, organise and interpret data to answer specific questions of value to the business. You will carry out descriptive and diagnostic analyses that reveal what happened and why. At the same time, you will perform predictive and prescriptive analysis, providing insights into future events and recommending valuable actions for the business.

Two-year Programme also available

After completing the one-year Data Analyst programme, many are ready for employment. If you want additional skills in databases, cloud services, programmatic data analysis, big data and other advanced topics, you can apply directly to the second year of the two-year Data Analyst programme.

Programme information

Learning outcomes

In your studies, you will learn data visualisation, transforming raw data into understandable graphics. In the professional world, this skill enables you to communicate effectively with senior management, boards of directors or others who may not have the technical expertise to understand raw data and figures.

You will gain a solid understanding of analytical models and practical implementations using industry tools such as Microsoft Excel and Google Spreadsheets. Once the foundation has been laid, you will be guided through the entire process, from data collection to reporting.

Data analysis techniques are practised using proxy datasets, testing your ability to address business-oriented problem areas such as operational management, finance, marketing and HR. The programme also covers innovative data storage, analytical and visual tools, and cloud-based databases.

We recommend the following specifications for a Windows-based machine, but M1- or M2-based MacOS devices will also be suitable:

  • 500 GB hard disk (or 250 GB + cloud storage, e.g., Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive - recommended).
  • 8 GB RAM.
  • Core i5 processor.

Admission requirements

Noroff has ongoing admissions, and applications are processed in the order they are received. The earlier you apply, the earlier you can secure a study place.

To qualify for the program, you must have general study competence or vocational education with a professional certificate. It is also possible to apply based on recognized prior learning.

Financing

All our study programs are approved for loans and grants from the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen). You can apply to the Loan Fund for basic support (loan and grant; NOK 137,907) and tuition fees (NOK 74,366).

As an adult student, you can receive loans and grants from the State Educational Loan Fund. This also applies if you work while studying.

As a main rule, you must be a Norwegian citizen to receive support from the Norwegian State Educational Fund. However, foreign citizens may also be entitled to financial support. Check here to see if you are eligible.
