51 educational institutions in Norway are using the Cisco Netacad platform to teach students highly sought after networking and cyber security skills. Now the teachers can also be trained in Norway.
Noroff Accelerate recently became the first Cisco ITC in Norway. An ITC is a unit managed by certified trainers, who are qualified to teach, assess, and certify new instructors in levels of CCNA (Certified Cisco Network Associate, CCNA Security, and CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional).
- There are 51 educational institutions using the Cisco Networking Academy platform in Norway to teach students highly needed networking and cyber security skills. But someone also needs to teach the teachers these skills as well! I am therefore thrilled to see Noroff becoming the first Networking Academy Instructor Training Center (ITC) in Norway. This is an important milestone to accelerate the building of critically needed digital competence, said Merete Asak, CTO and Head of Systems Engineering at Cisco Norway.
- Having a Cisco Instructor Training Center is crucial for the development of accredited instructors being able to convey the needed IT skills to students in Norway. You can’t train students if you don’t have skilled instructors. The establishment of Noroff Accelerate ITC will change the Cisco Networking Academy landscape in Norway. Everyone will benefit, both in terms of economic and societal impact, from building the IT Workforce of the future, said Rik Bleeker, CSR Manager Europe North Cisco.

Cisco Network Academy represents a partnership among educational institutions, industry, government institutions, and non-profit organizations. The purpose is to increase the access to education and career opportunities, as well as to provide more qualified experts that are in demand in the industry.
- Compliment to the staff
Noroff Accelerate already offers training in various Cisco programs, as a certified Cisco Networking Academy (NetAcad), and is also a Cisco Academy Support Center (ASC), offering support to other Network Academies in Norway.
- We are proud to become the first ITC in Norway. First, it is a compliment to our highly qualified staff. We have already run several CCNA courses and will expand our course offerings as we move forward. We are also looking forward to helping other institutions by training their staff, said head of Noroff Accelerate, Erlend Koppen Skar.
As an ITC Noroff Accelerate will offer both training and certification of new instructors, as well as tutor support.
Mujahid Tabassum, Subject Matter Expert in Cyber Security at Noroff Accelerate, is a Cisco-certified instructor and is responsible for managing and running Noroff Accelerates Cisco Networking Academy, Academy Support Center, and Instructor Training Center.
- We are happy and excited to offer technical education and hands-on networking and cyber security skills to the Norwegian market. We have competent staff and well-equipped Cisco labs on our four campuses in Oslo, Bergen, Kristiansand, and Stavanger, Tabassum said.
