Programming and Databases

Code writing has become a sought after skill. Computer systems of all forms have required coding and therefore being able to code and understanding the relationship that databases have with coding are skills that will catapult your career. You might want to work for a new tech startup, start your own business or even work for a large multinational as a coder. Take your first steps with this course.

This course offers

This 10 week course will give you insight into what system design is and how you need to think about systems. You will also learn how to read source code as well as write your own code. Finally, you will learn about databases, how they function together with a system and how to call a database in your code.

AFDA Film School

AFDA is the latest addition to our university partnerships. Complete two years at Noroff and one year in South Africa and get a Bachelor's degree in Arts in Motion Picture Medium, combined with cultural experiences that will inspire you for the rest of your life.

Due to political agitation in South Africa, Noroff Vocational School has decided to put the collaboration with AFDA Film School on hold in 2022. We hope the situation will improve, and that we eventually can continue the collaboration.

AFDA has within a few years become one of the world's most renowned film schools. We are proud to be the only school in Norway offering a joint program with this institution. Spend a year in South Africa and get a Bachelor's degree in Art Motion Picture Medium with exciting cultural experiences.

AFDA is part of an exclusive range of film schools worldwide who qualify for membership in CILECT (International Association of Film and Television Schools). Membership in CILECT comes with the option of enrolling student films at the Oscars.

AFDA is listed by the South African Council as one of the six best private universities in South Africa. Films produced by AFDA is shown at several international festivals and broadcast worldwide. The school has won numerous prestigious awards, and in 2006 they won the most prestigious of them all: Oscar for best student film!

The school works by the principle "everything in house", and educates all professional functions within filmmaking: makeup artists, actors, designers, photographers, key grips, production designers, directors, and producers. The school creates a unique production environment, where everything - including film development - happens "in house".

Cape Town

The city is home to all three World Heritage sites: Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Table Mountain and Robben Island - the cradle of liberty - where the leaders of the struggle against apartheid was imprisoned. The city's gorgeous beaches are a mecca for water sports and windsurfing. The film industry in Cape Town has been providing infrastructure and services to large, international films and commercial productions from Germany, Canada, USA, UK and many other countries. The fabulous locations, the 15-hour long days of summer, the angle and intensity of light, world class facilities and film crew of the highest quality, have helped make Cape Town one of the first choices for productions on this side of the Atlantic.

Teesside University

If you are interested in 3D, graphic communications or media production, we are confident that Teesside University in Middlesbrough is the university for you.

After two years at Noroff you can apply to Teesside University and get a Bachelor's degree!

Art and design students have ranked Teesside in the top ten of higher education in the UK. In 2009 the university won the University of the Year, Times Higher Education award. The new Bauhaus building for art and graphics education is the entire 40,000 square feet and cost nearly 115 million NOK. It is chock full of "toys" for you. PCs, Macs and all the software you need. Everything at your disposal. Virtually all teachers have extensive industrial experience. And many have run their own businesses. 83% of students say that they think that the teachers are enthusiastic and that teaching is stimulating.

Each year, the University host the Animex Festival. This is a major international animation and gaming festival. The major animation companies present themselves and animation industry gets the hottest names in the animation world to give lectures and workshops.

According to The Independent Complete University Guide, Teesside is in the top-10 list of students who receive relevant jobs after graduating. The University has a clear mission to provide an education that matches the needs of of the industry. Many of the courses are developed in close collaboration with industry partners. Teesside was one of the first universities that qualified for the UK Government standard for career guidance program called Matrix. Career cousellors will be there to assist you in any questions you may regarding further career choices. During the training you will be given the opportunity to be stationed at a company.

In general

Teesside University is located in the center of Middlesbrough. The city has approximately 140,000 inhabitants. With its 28,000 students, the university make their mark on the cityscape. Middlesbrough is located in the north-east. It is well connected to the rest of England. London is 400 km further south, and 200 km to the east you will find Liverpool and 65 km to the north you will find Newcastle with direct flights to Bergen and Oslo.

University of South Wales

"Mae gowannen!" is they say in Wales. The part of the University of South Wales which was formerly the University of Glamorgan, is located just outside the Welsh capital of Cardiff.

For us it is about fulfilling dreams - your dreams. Therefore, we chose to partner up with the University of South Wales, so you could take two years at Noroff, and make that into a Bachelor's degree at this university. And we will happily tell you why we chose the University of South Wales.

Over the years, the University of Glamorgan has received many awards and honors. 2008 was no exception; they were then nominated for the prestigious The Times University of the Year Award. In recent years they have invested nearly 700 million NOK in buildings and other facilities to provide better learning conditions. Headquarters, the Atrium, has cost 420 million NOK and houses 2,000 students, a theater, television studie, radio and film productions, animation and computer labs. All technical equipment is of the highest standard.

With its 20,000 students, the university has a strong presence in the local community. Here you will find many bars, cafés and clubs. The nightlife is famous. Students call it Glamlife.

When you arrive at the university, you will have a tutor who lives in the area. The tutor will help you get settled in. If you are in need of guidance there is of course a special section with student tutors ready to help you.

In general

Cardiff is the capital of Wales. Many associate Cardiff with coal. Today, there is a state of the art city where The Millennium Stadium is perhaps the most famous building. The annual Cardiff Festival claims that they are the UK's largest outdoor festival. The university is located just outside the city center and thanks to a very wide range of public transport options, you are never far away from where you want to go.
