This page contains practical information about our Higher Vocational online study programs leading to Professional Degrees and Higher Professional Degrees. An overview of the programs is at the bottom of the page.

Practical hands-on education

Higher Vocational College studies are in general more practically oriented compared to university college studies.

Our studies have been developed in collaboration with our partners in the industry. Our teachers have solid experience from the industry and a practical approach to their field of study.

There will be a level of theoretical approach to some subjects that is required for an overall understanding of your study - but in essence you will be working with practical tasks and computer programs that are used in the industry today, in order to secure up-to-date skills and expertise.

A typical week as an online student

As an online student, you have a high degree of freedom and flexibility. At the same time, it will also require discipline and planning skills to succeed with your studies.

There is great freedom and flexibility being an online student. At the same time, it will also require discipline and planning skills. Studying full-time can be compared to having a full-time job. The study plan indicates a workload of 40 hours per week. If you need to combine studies with work, family or other obligations, part-time studies (20 hours per week) can be a good option.

Modules

Our online programs are organized in modules, which means that you´ll get access to new learning material each week (every second week for part-time students). Access is usually given on Mondays before 10 o´clock Central European Time. At the end of each module, there´ll typical be a test or an assignment. In addition to module and subject assignments, there will also be longer periods of project and portfolio work.

Progression

At the start of your studies, you will get access to the progression plan for your study program. This includes weekly overview of modules, topics, projects, submission deadlines and vacations. It is a good planning tool to use through the study.

Studies in English

Our studies are in English for all students, as we have both Norwegian and international teachers and industry experts. This means that content, communication and assignments are mainly in English. It does not mean that you must be able to speak fluent English, but you must be able to understand and communicate. If you have good experience with English from high school, then it should be more than good enough.

Further studies

Most of our study program can be combined with other relevant programs in a way that will strengthen your position in the industry. For example, you can combine UX design with front end development, graphic design or digital marketing. You can also combine network and IT security with a third year at our collaborative university, University of South Wales, to obtain an international bachelor's degree.

Bachelor's degrees abroad

Noroff cooperates with several international Universities. After completing a two-year Higher Vocational program at Noroff you can for most programs apply directly into the third year of a bachelor's degree in England, Australia, Wales or South Africa. You can find more information about the bachelor’s degrees abroad here.
