- A typical study day involves working at home in the villa by the pool or going to a café to study with a nice, cooling iced coffee, says the 27-year-old.

Lene Haugervåg (27) was looking for a flexible education that allowed her to study from anywhere, at any time. This led her to move to Bali, while studying Graphic Design at Noroff Online Studies.

Studying here is comfortable and I love that I can sit on a sunbed and do my assignments, says the 27-year-old.

Love to be Creative

Graphic Design is a practical programme where you learn to work creatively with visual communication. After completing the programme, you will be able to work with strategic design, illustration, photography, web design and animation.

I heard a lot of positive things about the study programmes at Noroff before I started. Lene Haugervåg

I heard a lot of positive things about the study programmes at Noroff before I started. I've always loved being creative and making things, which is why I chose graphic design as my study programme. Creating visual content gives me the opportunity to express ideas in a unique way.  I enjoy working with design and bringing concepts to life, says Lene.

There is one area of graphic design that Lene has taken a particular interest in.

I have fallen in love with web design because I really enjoy designing websites. It gives me the freedom to play with colours and layout, while at the same time working on user experience.

Being an Online Student is Social

Studying online has given Lene the freedom to manage her own schedule, which makes it easy to combine her studies with her lifestyle.

Personally, I feel more creative in the evenings, which means I prefer to work on creative projects at that time, she explains.

Studying online is much more social than I expected.Lene Haugervåg

When she started studying online, she was worried that it would be lonely, but it was completely the opposite. She says the class communicates through teams and they also have their own group on Snapchat where they ask each other for feedback on their work.

Studying online is much more social than I expected.

She continues:

I've also found a balance that suits my lifestyle in a way I didn't expect. The programme I've chosen is incredibly fun and creative, which makes it hard to put down. Every new assignment feels like an opportunity to explore new ideas and being able to immerse myself in creative projects makes my studies incredibly engaging.

The 27-year-old has found that planning and self-discipline are key to being a successful online student. She finds that having a set study routine and clear goals for the week helps to structure her day.

The fact that we have a dedicated study environment and the ability to discuss in forums and teams means that you can get input from teachers or others in the class, which has been invaluable, she concludes.
