The need for qualified personnel in cloud storage and data processing will be a major focus area for most companies in the future. The study program, Cloud Foundations, gives you basic competence in this field.

From March 2024, Noroff Vocational School offers the study program; Cloud Foundations. A practical education about physical infrastructure, server operations and cloud technologies with Microsoft Azure as the main platform.

Relevant for work life

Technology is developing at a rapid pace and the need for processing, performance, storage and availability is increasing in line with this. As a result, many organizations are having to establish cloud-based environments, which means that the need for qualified personnel is also increasing.

- Cloud services and cloud computing are seen as a focus area by many, and there will be a demand for people with this expertise in the years to come, says Tom Drange.

In June 2023, Tom Drange completed his PhD where he wrote about social anxiety among IT students. He completed his PhD while teaching at Noroff. He is now Head of Education for the new study program, Cloud Foundations, and is excited for the start-up in March.

- Cloud Foundations is a fundamental platform for anyone who wants to work with cloud services, he says.

About the Program

Cloud Foundations focuses on real, practical and relevant tasks, as well as using AI as a learning tool. The goal is to teach students to become self-driven and independent, with good collaboration skills in an interdisciplinary environment. The most important factors for success are an interest in the subject, a good work ethic and an ambitious attitude.

- It is important to understand basic operation and administration of computer networks, Microsoft and Linux-based servers to understand basic cloud services and infrastructure. It's equally important to understand how moving services and infrastructure to the cloud can affect your business," says Tom Drange.

He further explains that the study program is based on three principles;

  • What is the current physical infrastructure?
  • What might that infrastructure look like in the cloud?
  • What kind of positive or negative ripple effects a possible move of infrastructure and services to the cloud will have?

You can secure your place to study Cloud Foundations now.
