10 weeks part time Instructor led

Advance your network and IT security career in just ten weeks with our part-time Networks Switching and Routing course—your pathway to mastering complex routing, switching, and wireless security protocols.

Unlock the complexities of routing, switching, and wireless security protocols with our specialised ten-week, part-time course. As the second course designed to align with Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) objectives, this program offers a focused approach to the skills you'll actually use—whether you're managing a small business network or securing a large wireless local area network (WLAN). If you're looking to move up in your career or enhance your organization's security posture, this course offers the tools and knowledge you need.

About the course

As a natural progression from CCNA1, our Networks Switching and Routing course provides a comprehensive look at modern networking complexities. The curriculum covers a range of topics, from VLANs and inter-VLAN routing to advanced networking protocols. Completing this course equips you with the skills to configure, troubleshoot, and secure wired and wireless networks, making you a valuable asset in the network and IT security field. Upon completion, you will be prepared to take the CCNA2 exam.

  • Basic Router, Switch Configuration and Switch concepts: Learn to configure and verify routing between two directly connected networks using CLI and explore frame forwarding and collision domain management in switches.
  • VLAN and Inter-VLAN Routing: Master the configuration and troubleshooting of VLANs and inter-VLAN routing in a multi-switch environment.
  • STP and EtherChannel: Understand and mitigate common problems in redundant Layer 2 switches and gain proficiency in STP and EtherChannel technologies.
  • DHCPv4 and DHCPv6: Configure DHCP for both IPv4 and IPv6 and understand the operation of DHCP across multiple LANs.
  • FHRP Concepts, LAN, and Switch Security: Implement advanced security features like AAA and 802.1x, and configure various security protocols to mitigate different types of attacks.
  • WLAN Concept and Configuration: Configure and troubleshoot WLANs while understanding the underlying technology, standards, and security protocols.
  • Routing and IP static Routing: Develop a deeper understanding of how routers determine routes, understand static vs dynamic routing, and troubleshoot common routing issues.

This course is aligned with Cisco’s globally recognised certification standards. Given the high demand for IT security skills in businesses, this course is a foundational step towards obtaining valuable certifications in the critical network and IT security field.

This is the second of three courses covering the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) curriculum. Upon completing the course, participants will be prepared to take the CCNA3 exam at the end of the course, and after finishing all three CCNA courses, the professional CCNA 200-301 Certification. Contact one of our test centres to arrange your certification exam.
