Marte is pursuing digital marketing studies online: - Having spent several years in the healthcare sector, I felt a strong desire to explore new opportunities.
27-year-old Marte Talgø decided to pursue a different career path and chose to study digital marketing through Noroff Online Studies.
– I've always had an interest in technology and found social media enjoyable to work with. That's why I started exploring various educational paths focusing more on digital aspects and what I could see myself working with. Digital marketing came up as a suggestion, and after some further research, I was convinced that this was a perfect match.
- It's Pure Luxury!
For Marte, it was crucial that she could study online. She had studied on campus before, something she recommends everyone to do at least once in their life. However, this time, the freedom to manage her daily schedule independently was a significant factor.
– With a partner who travels for work, online studies allowed me to accompany him wherever he needed to be. As long as I have internet access, I can study from anywhere; it's a luxury!

– How does a typical study day look like for you?
– It's challenging to describe a typical study day as online studies offer the freedom for each day to be different. If you need a few extra hours of sleep one day, you can turn off the alarm. If you have errands in the middle of the day, you can postpone your study time until the evening. If you want to exercise in the morning to avoid the afternoon rush, you can do that.
However, Marte tries to wake up at approximately the same time every day and typically starts her day with lectures. This way, she can have the afternoon free to socialize or pursue other interests and hobbies. She finds that online studies have worked surprisingly well for her.
– I was a bit apprehensive about Noroff's approach, but I am so satisfied with how they've structured the course. Of course, you have to take responsibility for your progress and learning, but as long as you follow the study plan, it's not a problem.
She explains that they use the Moodle learning platform to ask questions to teachers and fellow students. Additionally, they have a chat function that can be utilized.
– I believe most classes also have groups on Facebook and Discord. This allows you to decide how much contact you want with fellow students, but there are definitely good opportunities to get to know classmates and maintain good contact with teachers, even though the studies are online, she says.
Marte feels that she receives excellent help and support from the instructors.
– When we have assignments, we also receive feedback on what we have submitted, along with a detailed example of how the tasks could have been answered.
Looking Forward to Working in the Field
Initially, Marte enjoyed creating content for social media, so she expected this to be an obvious favorite among the subjects in the course. What surprised her was that a topic she knew nothing about beforehand became one of the most interesting.
– What surprised me was how interesting the analytical part of marketing is. We are currently getting to know Google Analytics in depth, and I really feel like it's all coming together in summarizing everything we've learned in the various subjects.

Marte mentions that the study is very work-oriented, with many assignments directly applicable to tasks encountered in the workplace.
– It's worth mentioning that in some extensive assignments, we work with companies that we have to contact and arrange agreements with ourselves. Then we perform work for them according to the assigned tasks. Here, there are excellent opportunities to build a network, and you get to try tasks that you will probably encounter after completing the study.
– What are your plans after completing your online studies?
– I look forward to finding a job in my new field. I hope to find a workplace where I can apply what I have learned in my studies. At the same time, I want to continue developing and learning more. I'll probably have to start applying for jobs now as I'm nearing the end of my studies.
