Noroff Vocational School is now area-accredited within “IT and Digitalisation” and “Design and Digital Media”. These accreditations give the school the freedom to develop its own study programmes, a major milestone for quality and innovation.

A new chapter for Noroff Vocational School

Noroff has received area accreditation from NOKUT, a clear recognition of quality, academic strength, and trust. This gives the school the freedom to independently develop new programmes within the two accredited fields, strengthening Noroff’s commitment to quality, innovation, and industry-relevant education.

- This is a major and well-deserved breakthrough for Noroff Vocational School. The accreditations confirm that we have a robust academic environment, strong quality processes, and close collaboration with industry, says Aage Alexander Foss, Rector of Noroff Vocational School.

Rector Aage Alexander Foss and Project Manager Heidi Møller Strand have led the accreditation process for Noroff Vocational School.

Greater academic freedom and responsibility

Area accreditation is granted only to institutions that can document high quality and have a solid system for academic development. The decision means that Noroff can now establish and revise programmes within the two accredited fields independently, without applying to NOKUT for each new one.

- This gives us the freedom to develop education in line with industry needs and technological change. We can respond faster, think more innovatively, and ensure that Noroff students always gain relevant and future-oriented skills, says Foss.

Academic excellence with proven quality

The expert committee at NOKUT concluded that Noroff Vocational School meets all requirements for area accreditation. The report highlights the school’s strong academic environment, clear strategies for professional development, and close cooperation with industry.

More than 60 percent of Noroff’s lecturers hold formal pedagogical qualifications. The academic staff includes experienced professionals in networking and cybersecurity, UX design and front-end development, graphic design, game design, digital marketing, film, and sound production.

- This is a mark of quality we are very proud of. The process has been extensive and thorough, and the result confirms that our systems and academic environment maintain a high national standard, says Heidi Møller Strand, Project Manager for both accreditation applications.

Strong partnerships with industry

Noroff Vocational School maintains close partnerships with the IT, design, and media industries. These collaborations are a key part of the school’s quality system and contribute to everything from curriculum development to guest lectures and practical projects.

Among Noroff’s industry partners are Atea, Sopra Steria, Knowit, Crayon, Secure-NOK, Netlife Research, Bitpro, Dinamo, Qvisten Animation, Storm Studios, and OsloMet.

Building the education of the future

Today, Noroff Vocational School has more than 3,600 active students across campuses in Oslo, Bergen, and Kristiansand, as well as a large number of online students. All current programmes are within the two accredited subject areas.

- This is an achievement for all of Noroff – and for the entire vocational education sector in Norway, Foss concludes. Our goal is to be a driving force for quality development, innovation, and industry relevance, ensuring our students are always prepared for the careers of the future.
