Professor Iain Sutherland is a recognised expert is the area of computer forensics and data recovery. He has authored numerous articles ranging from forensics practice and procedure to forensic tool development. In addition to being actively involved in research in this area, Prof. Sutherland has taught computer forensics at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. He has advised on forensic problems for police forces and commercial organisations. ​

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Prof. Sutherland’s research interests are in the area of forensics practice and procedure, and device security and forensics. He has supervised and examined a number of PhD students in topics varying from the procedures relating to the investigation of Identity Theft to forensic examination of the Windows Registry.
