Magnus Ekeløf Thom is a former student at Noroff’s Bachelor’s in Digital Forensics. He graduated in 2022 and has since worked at Noroff University College as a junior lecturer while taking a MSc in Cyber Security at Leeds Beckett University. Magnus is always eager to support students with his experience and competence.

Research Interests

Magnus is interested in malware analysis and reverse engineering, which are research areas of great importance as malicious actors rapidly adapt to services that now have migrated to online platforms. Analysing and mitigating threats while researching future solutions helps to ensure safe web experiences for all.

Malware analysis and reverse engineering are fields of great importance in today’s world. As a lot of services have migrated to online platforms through web application, malicious actors adapt. Analysing malware to help disarm them from causing damage and analysing applications for vulnerabilities can be critical to avoid financial and reputation loss for a lot of companies migrating to online platforms. Being able to understand how software works and how one can stop malware in their tracks or strengthen an applications code to ensure a safe web experience for all.
