After completing a bachelor’s degree in marketing and brand management, Ingvild Ravnanger wanted more hands-on experience. At Noroff, she found exactly that, and more.
After several years of theoretical studies, Ingvild had built solid knowledge but still felt something essential was missing. She wanted to understand how marketing actually works in practice.
Combining Theory and Practice
- I had a bachelor’s degree in marketing and brand management, but I lacked practical experience. When I saw that Noroff offered a one-year Digital Marketing program with a more hands-on approach, I knew it was the right next step.
At the Bergen campus, she began an intense and inspiring year of digital marketing.
I figured that combining the theoretical foundation from my bachelor’s degree with the practical experience from Noroff would make me more attractive in the job market, and I was right. Ingvild Ravnanger
Throughout the program, she worked with everything from content production and SEO to advertising and performance measurement.
- The most valuable part was working together as a class functioning like a real marketing agency. We handled real projects for real clients, which gave us meaningful experience with communication, planning, and delivery, she explains.
Teamwork, Leadership, and Growth
In the student agency, Ingvild had the chance to step into the role of project manager, a position that offered both challenges and eye-opening moments. She learned how crucial clear communication, defined expectations, and shared understanding are within a team.
- ‘Teamwork makes the dream work’ took on a whole new meaning for me. Leading a project from start to finish taught me how to build trust and structure in a team. Practicing this in a safe learning environment was incredibly valuable.
Marketing That Sparks Engagement
For Ingvild, marketing is about creating engagement — and daring to be visible.
- The most important thing I learned was: ‘If you’re not seen, you don’t exist.’ Combine that with ‘If it struck a nerve, it was meant for you,’ and you’ve basically summarized marketing in a simple but truthful way.
When Marketing Meets Music
One of the most exciting experiences during her studies came from collaborating with students from other programs.
- Through the student marketing agency, I also worked with students from other disciplines, including a band from the music program and the school’s own record label, Noroff Records. That gave me insight into music marketing and producing social media content for bands.
What I learned then has led me to now work mainly with helping bands build a stronger digital presence and reach the right audience. It’s incredibly rewarding, especially at a time when AI-generated bands and music are entering the industry. Ingvild Ravnanger
From Student to Self-Employed
After graduating, Ingvild started her own business, a flexible solution that fits well with life as a new mother.
- Being able to manage my own schedule while working with something I’m passionate about is an amazing kind of freedom. It’s not a 9–4 job, but it suits me and my everyday life perfectly.
She looks back on her time at Noroff with gratitude.
- I learned so much and got to test myself in realistic situations that mirror the professional world. It gave me confidence and belief in my own abilities.
Advice for New Students
For anyone considering applying, she has one clear message:
- Don’t be afraid to take the leap! Noroff gives you the tools you need to get started, and you’ll grow more than you think along the way.
