- I am incredibly excited to have my game professionally printed! I can't wait to play it with friends and family and hear what they think about it.

Adam Nekola is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Interactive Media – Games on the Kristiansand campus. During his first semester, he created the science fiction board game "Event Horizon," which is set to be professionally printed.

Science fiction is one of my favorite genres, and I'm also a fan of horror, so I wanted to combine the two. My game is about exploring an abandoned spaceship orbiting near a black hole. As you explore, mutations can give you special abilities, but be careful; they can turn you into a terrifying monster at any time, he explains.

Adam's game is a mix of exploration, survival, and collaboration, making it highly unpredictable. He mentions that having the game professionally printed adds a touch of professionalism and enhances its visual appeal.

It's truly a remarkable milestone in my game development journey. I look forward to seeing the joy it brings to players, and that's the main reason I create games in the first place.

Utilized AI in the Development

Adam utilized artificial intelligence in the game's development, using the "Midjourney" generator to create most of the artwork, including rooms and cards. To achieve the desired quality, he had to test and generate around 10,000 images using AI. After thorough evaluation and selection, he handpicked about 80 high-quality images that captured the essence and art style of the game.

As I worked on this game alone, I knew I had to use AI if I wanted to maintain high visual quality," says the Noroff student.

Developing the game has been a fantastic process, contributing significantly to his personal development.

It has allowed me to appreciate the art of game development and unleash my creativity in a way I have never experienced before. Many times, I got lost in the 'flow state,' realizing afterward that a couple of hours had passed. I can definitely say that this project has strengthened my desire to pursue professional game development.

Supportive Learning Environment

Adam, who previously studied sociology and criminology, notes that the game development program at Noroff has awakened his creativity in a unique way. He appreciates the supportive learning environment and collaboration with fellow students on campus in Kristiansand

The supportive learning environment and collaboration with fellow students have truly enriched my learning journey. I am so grateful for this opportunity to explore my passion for game development.

Choosing the game development program was driven by Adam's lifelong love for video games, starting with his first PlayStation in 1999. After living in Germany with his Norwegian girlfriend for five years, they decided to return to her home country.

It was a great opportunity to experience the beautiful country and the fantastic city of Kristiansand. It's quite incredible how everything fell into place so well, and everything turned out so good.

He continues:

When I finish at Noroff, my ultimate goal is to find myself surrounded by like-minded individuals, collaborating to create games that bring joy to people's lives.

The Noroff student reveals that Noroff has strengthened his passion for game development.

I am determined to continue improving my skills, expanding my knowledge, and striving to make meaningful contributions to the game development world, wherever the future may take me, he concludes.
