Art and design students have ranked Teesside in the top ten of higher education in the UK. In 2009 the university won the University of the Year, Times Higher Education award. The new Bauhaus building for art and graphics education is the entire 40,000 square feet and cost nearly 115 million NOK. It is chock full of "toys" for you. PCs, Macs and all the software you need. Everything at your disposal. Virtually all teachers have extensive industrial experience. And many have run their own businesses. 83% of students say that they think that the teachers are enthusiastic and that teaching is stimulating.

Each year, the University host the Animex Festival. This is a major international animation and gaming festival. The major animation companies present themselves and animation industry gets the hottest names in the animation world to give lectures and workshops.

According to The Independent Complete University Guide, Teesside is in the top-10 list of students who receive relevant jobs after graduating. The University has a clear mission to provide an education that matches the needs of of the industry. Many of the courses are developed in close collaboration with industry partners. Teesside was one of the first universities that qualified for the UK Government standard for career guidance program called Matrix. Teesside University is located in the center of Middlesbrough. The city has approximately 140,000 inhabitants. With its 28,000 students, the university make their mark on the cityscape. Middlesbrough is located in the north-east. It is well connected to the rest of England. London is 400 km further south, and 200 km to the east you will find Liverpool and 65 km to the north you will find Newcastle with direct flights to Bergen and Oslo.
