Deakin University welcomes you!
Deakin is a popular destination for international students, with around 70,000 students of all nationalities studying on its various campuses, from the workplace or home. The university aspires to be recognised as Australia’s most progressive university, offering programs that are responsive, relevant and innovative.
Deakin’s reputation for excellent teaching and innovative course delivery has been recognised through many awards over the past decade. It has consistently achieved the highest ratings in national surveys of graduate satisfaction, and has twice won the coveted Good Universities Guide University of the Year award.
A Deakin degree is more than a quality degree. Innovative courses, fantastic locations and outstanding teaching and IT support are just some of the reasons a Deakin degree is the right choice for you.
In the Faculty of Arts there is a strong focus on the creative arts including film, animation, interactive and new media. Courses are specifically designed to combine an enhanced vocational focus and an orientation towards professional outcomes with the generic skills of the Humanities and Social Sciences.
First class facilities ensure all students have access to a high quality, multi discipline practical study experience in our purpose built studios and spaces. The Melbourne campus at Burwood features a cutting edge $18.4 million media and creative arts centre which encompasses fully operational studios for television, sound, film, photography, digital imagining, animation, interactive media, visual arts and editing and mixing suites, nonlinear post-production facilities, dance studios, drama and collaborative spaces and a full wardrobe department. The Journalism Lab at the Geelong campus at Waurn Ponds provides a high-tech recording studio as well as audio and video editing suites for broadcast journalism, radio and TV. All the studios are built to industry specifications and all software and equipment used is industry standard.
You are also given many opportunities to add relevance to your degree through work placements and internships.
Our courses emphasise a unique ‘multi-skilled” qualification appropriate for rapidly evolving professions in which skills, careers and job markets are constantly changing.
We look forward to welcoming you into the Deakin community and particularly the Faculty of Arts and Education (www.deakin.edu.au/arts)
